Preganancy Pilates:

Being pregnant doesn’t mean we totally have to stop doing the activities we enjoy, it just means we have to modify them and support our body more.

Pregnancy puts stress on to the body, initially during the first trimester with the huge influx of hormones.  However the first trimester isn’t the best time to start new activities due to the possibility of miscarriage, we recommend starting Pilates from week 13.  During the first trimester mums-to-be often feel really tired so work on supporting nutrition and giving the body the much needed rest at this point.

2nd trimester mums-to-be are often said to be blooming and this is the best time to start Pilates or a modified fitness activity.

Pregnancy Pilates is all about working on those muscles which usually become weaker during pregnancy especially the buttock muscles and working on flexibility and posture.

There is also a discussion / talk on a pregnancy related subject and a relaxation session at the end of the class. The class lasts for 1 hour 30 mins and costs £75 for 6

Postnatal Pilates:

Mums need to be 6 weeks post vaginal birth and min 8 weeks post c-section to attend the postnatal class.

We work on posture, strength, flexibility and core connection.  If mums have issues with their pelvic floor or diastasis then they are best to join the Holistic Core Restore® Everywoman class where the pelvic floor is the main focus through out the 6 or 12 week course.

Pregnancy and especially birth can affect the pelvic muscles.  The buttocks usually weaken through pregnancy and then with the weakened, stretched abdominal muscles the pelvis doesn’t have as much support as usual.  By coming to the class the body changes and becomes stronger and able to cope with daily life activities.

Babies are welcome to the class and stay next to the mum.  We don’t use babies in the exercise as babies move and wriggle and becomes a safety issue and they are not weights to be used in exercise.

Mums can start in the class at any stage

Cost is £65 for 6 weeks
